The Good News
The cruise was wonderful and quite an experience. You have never seen celebrating until you have been teamed up for several days with 2,000 +/- Latinos who are locked into the party mode. And Royal Caribbean really does it up right. More on that later.
The Bad News
My staph infected foot of 2+ months flared up again in day #2 of the 8 day cruise. Not only did that put a damper on my cruise experience, it also forced me to extend my stay in the U.S. Ironically, this is the first time that I had finalized all my return travels arrangements to Panama before I even left Panama. And, yes it did cost me $150 to change it to accommodate my fun filled two weeks of daily trips to the hospital for an hours worth of 'killer' antibiotics administered through my very own catheter that ran through my arm into my chest cavity somewhere. But, at least the environment was cheery - the chemotherapy ward! And, for the next few days I am getting a variety of tests done to see if this infection (due to the duration of it) damaged any major organs. Gulp! Of particular concern are the valves of the heart. Ouch.
The Worst News
My laptop was stolen out of my luggage. Luckily four months ago I had bought an external hard drive to back up the stuff on my computer. However, I had not backed-up the 1,000s of photos I had taken (including all the photos from the cruise). I decided to organize and catalog them first - Duh!. I also had not backed up the 12 chapters (of a 18 planned) of the book I am writing. The publisher had bought (agreed to publish) it based on an outline and a completed chapter I had submitted back in Jan. I was supposed to submit a completed draft by 1 August. So, I'll have to start over! Will require some time and considerably more rum.
More details to follow. I head back to Panama on Tuesday and when things get back to normal I hope to get the blog running and current. Stay tuned.
